Welcome to my butterfly sculpture. Located in Cottage Park in Sacramento, (across from Kaiser Hospital.) I was asked to do a large butterfly sculpture when they decided to create a small "butterfly garden" by planting plants designed to attract butterflies. I was willing to build a more traditional butterfly, but they actually liked the idea of a robotic one.

Note: People often complement my butterfly, then they ask me why there are only four (and not six) legs. The answer is: It is a fake robot sculpture with no moving parts!

Truthfully, I was as surprised as anyone when I began looking at dozens of butterfly photos and they all only seem to have four legs. Turns out most butterflies fall into the "Nymphalidae" family which only have four legs. (Although some may have an extra two forelegs that are barely visible.)
